Our Story
Started in one classroom. Built for parents who ask around first.
Our Odisha network is a proud franchise of Mastermind Abacus, a Multinational Education Company with a presence across 16 countries and over 2000 associate franchisees worldwide. Locally, it began the way most trusted programmes do, with a handful of children, a soroban, and a teacher who refused to run a batch of more than twelve.
Years on, the batch size hasn't moved. What has changed is the number of children who've sat down nervous about numbers and left a term later reaching for harder problems on their own. That's the only metric that mattered when we started, and it's the only one that matters now.
Today we run Mastermind Abacus's structured, age-wise programmes across Odisha, still taught by people who know each child's name, not just their batch number.

What parents ask before their first visit.
As per research-based analysis by neuroscience, the perfect age to start any skill development programme is from 4 years to 14 years, as this is when neurogenesis is at its peak. Anything the child learns during this stage remains with him/her throughout their life.
The child first learns to use the beads in the abacus tool to do the calculation. After a few classes/practice sessions, the child is encouraged to visualise the same bead movements in their mind to do mental calculation. The bead movements are mapped in the child’s brain, resulting in faster calculation with accuracy in answers.
The Soroban is the Japanese abacus, with one bead above the bar and four below on each rod. It is the standard tool for mental arithmetic training worldwide, and the one our curriculum uses at every level.
The ideal batch size is 12 to 14, as skill development cannot be trained in masses. Plus, we also believe in delivering quality education to students.
Results can be witnessed after 3 months of regular class attendance and sincere home practice by the child.
Absolutely. Abacus doesn’t just teach fast, accurate calculation — it trains the brain. Over time, children develop sharper focus, better recall and stronger reasoning, which shows up as improvement across all their subjects, not just maths.
Our programme is structured in progressive levels, usually Level 1 through Level 10. Each level is designed to take about 3 months when the child attends class regularly and keeps up with home assignments. This means a full journey to mastery typically spans 2–3 years, giving every student time to build confidence and internalise the skills steadily.
In our FREE Assessment, we provide an assessment sheet to the child with 27 typical mathematics questions. The child then starts answering while a timer runs. Once the child completes the sheet, the answers are checked and the time is monitored to calculate their DPM (Digits Per Minute). Our goal is then to improve the child’s DPM after 3 months of regular class attendance.
Since this is a SKILL DEVELOPMENT SESSION and not an academic class where students can be taught in masses, we strictly restrict the batch size to not more than 14 students. Skill development cannot be trained in masses; it needs constant monitoring and evaluation.
It gives children a real understanding of numbers, not just answers. Abacus trains the brain to calculate mentally and accurately, so school arithmetic becomes easier and faster. With stronger focus and confidence, children stop fearing maths — and start enjoying it.
